LOCAL DISCOUNT SOLICITOR
Position: Local Discount Solicitor
Type: Contract - March 26 - April 30, 2012
Pay: $16/hr
Studentsaver Discount Programme
Studentsaver is a national student discount programme run by students, for students, on a non-profit basis. The purpose of the programme is to help students save money on everyday purchases like books, clothing, food and entertainment. To access discounts, students simply present their Studentsaver card or International Student Identity Card (ISIC). Established in 1982, Studentsaver is Canada's original student discount programme.
In communities throughout Canada, the programme solicits the participation of local, often independent, businesses. The only cost to businesses for participating is the value of the discount they choose to offer students. Participating businesses benefit by attracting the college and university student population to their products and services through free promotion -- including listings in the Studentsaver booklet and on the Studentsaver web site (www.studentsaver.ca).
Job Description
As a Local Discount Solicitor, you would work to secure Studentsaver discounts from businesses in your community -- especially within the vicinity of your campus -- throughout the months of March and April. You would make contact with businesses, usually in person, to invite them to participate in the programme by providing a Studentsaver discount. To carry out the job, you would be provided with background information, promotional materials, and discount agreement forms. You would report on a regular basis to the Regional Discount Coordinator.
