On February 1, students across Manitoba participated in the National Day of Action for a more affordable and accessible system of high quality, public post-secondary education. Students pressed the federal and provincial governments to lower tuition fees, increase education funding and drop student debt. Students in Manitoba will continue working together with students across the country to push for a national post-secondary education strategy.
Protection for Students Living in Residence
Students who live in university or college operated residences in Manitoba are not protected by the Manitoba Residential Tenancies Act - legislation that outlines tenant rights. Students are currently working to include student residences under the Act to ensure students are protected in their homes and have the same rights as other renters in the province.
